What is a derma roller used for?

Engineered with 192 ultra-fine, real individual medical-grade stainless steel needles, our Derma Roller offers a safe and cost-effective way to enjoy the benefits of microneedling in the comfort of your home.

Benefits of Microneedling

  • Support hair regeneration and regrowth: Microneedling has the potential to stimulate dormant hair follicles, encouraging them to enter the growth phase and contributing to hair regrowth.
  • Improve blood circulation in scalp, promoting the delivery of nutrients to hair follicles.
  • Enhance topical product absorption such as topical Minoxidil
  • Increase skin elasticity
  • Reduce wrinkles, pigmentation & appearance of pores
  • Improve scar appearance
  • Fade stretch marks

Usage (For Hair)

  • Disinfect roller before use.
  • Wash your scalp/hair before the rolling process.
  • Section Your Scalp: Divide your hair into sections with clips or hair ties if needed to expose the targeted areas of the scalp.
  • Gently Roll the Scalp: Start at the front or crown of your head and gently roll the derma roller vertically, horizontally, and diagonally over each section of the scalp, applying mild pressure. For up to 5 times depending on sensitivity of scalp. (*1 time = front and back.) Avoid pressing too hard to prevent discomfort or injury.
  • After you’re done microneedling, rinse your scalp with water only.
  • To avoid potential irritation, wait at least 12-24 hours after derma rolling before washing your hair. Use a gentle shampoo to cleanse the scalp without harsh chemicals or fragrances.
  • If applicable, apply Minoxidil solution at least 12-24 hours after the rolling procedure.
  • If women with long hair need to use a dermaroller, the hair should first be wet to make it stay flat. This reduces the likelihood that the roller will catch and pull the hair.
  • Disinfect roller by soaking in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 5 to 10 mins after use.

After derma rolling, protect your scalp from direct sunlight. Wear a hat if needed to protect the treated area from the sun, as the skin may be more sensitive to it. Avoid using harsh hair care products such as strong shampoos, styling products containing alcohol, or hair dyes for a few days after treatment.

Usage (For Skin)

  • Disinfect roller before use.
  • Wash your face with a gentle cleanser before the rolling process.
  • Roll in one direction up to 5 times, depending on your skin tolerance and sensitivity. Make sure to lift the roller after each pass. So, roll in one direction. Lift up. Repeat.
  • Adjust the dermaroller slightly, and repeat. Do this until you’ve covered the entire section of skin you’re treating.
  • After rolling in one direction, it’s time to go back over the area you just rolled and repeat the process in the perpendicular direction. For example, say you finished rolling across your forehead vertically, now would be the time to go back and repeat that entire process horizontally, followed by diagonally.
  • After you’re done microneedling, rinse your face with water only.
  • Follow up the dermarolling with a basic skin care routine. That means no chemical exfoliants or active ingredients like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, tretinoin, etc. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer.
  • Disinfect roller by soaking in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 5 to 10 mins after use.

Make sure to use a high-SPF sunscreen if you plan on going out, and try not to expose your skin to harsh sunlight for at least 48 hours.

It is advisable to avoid the following after dermarolling:

  1. Heavy workout or excessive sweating for at least 24 hours (1 day).
  2. Applying heavy make-up for at least 48 hours (2 days).
  3. Exfoliating and using harsh acids such as AHAs or BHAs for at least 72 hours (3 days).

Usage Frequency

We recommend microneedling up to 3 times a week a week, at night. Avoid use on consecutive days. Replace head every 2 months or when necessary.

Each session should last about 10-15 minutes. Avoid excessively long sessions to avoid unnecessary trauma to the skin/scalp, which can result in irritation or damage. If you experience any discomfort, redness, or irritation during or after a session, consider reducing the duration or frequency of derma rolling.

Precautions

Discard after 2 months of usage. If your derma roller gets damaged or broken, you need to stop using it right away. Using a derma roller with bent or damaged needles can hurt your skin barrier, hair follicles and roots.

Watch for any signs of prolonged redness, irritation, or inflammation post-treatment. If these symptoms persist or worsen, seek advice from a doctor.

Avoid using a derma roller if you experience the following:

  • Active acne
  • Herpes labialis or any other local infection such as warts
  • Moderate to severe chronic skin disease such as eczema and psoriasis
  • Blood dyscrasias, patients on anticoagulant therapy
  • Extreme keloidal tendency
  • Are currently on chemo/radiotherapy

Handling and storage
