What is Panbesy (Phentermine) used for?

Panbesy (Phentermine) is an anorectic agent (an agent that suppresses appetite). It is for people with overweight and weight-related complications or obesity. It is meant to be used as a short-term adjunct in a comprehensive regimen of weight reduction, which includes diet and exercise.

How much weight can I lose with Panbesy (Phentermine)?

Panbesy (Phentermine) can support meaningful weight loss by decreasing your hunger or making you feel full longer. The expected average weight loss with phentermine use is 5-10% of your initial body weight over 12 weeks.

Dosage and how to use

  • Panbesy® comes in capsule form, to be taken by mouth.
  • Swallow the capsules whole with plenty of water. Do not chew or open the capsules.
  • The best time to take Panbesy® is first thing in the morning (before breakfast or 1 to 2 hours after breakfast), as it can cause sleeplessness if taken at night. Taking it at the same time each day will have the best effect. It will also help you remember when to take it.
  • It is important that you take the dose the doctor has recommended for you. Taking more than the recommended dose will increase the side effects you experience and may not increase the effect on weight loss.

What to do if I missed a dose?

If you forget to take your Panbesy® dose at breakfast, take it no later than lunchtime. Alternatively, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose at the normal time on the next day. If you take Panbesy® any later than lunchtime you may have trouble sleeping at night.

Never take a double dose to make up for a dose you have missed.

What are the possible side effects of Panbesy (Phentermine)?

Common side effects include:

  • Dry mouth and unpleasant taste
  • Restlessness
  • Difficulty sleeping: Take Panbesy first thing in the morning, reduce caffeine intake or consider prescription-grade melatonin (Circadin)
  • Palpitations
  • Increased blood pressure

Inform your doctor if the side effects above become severe and bother you.
