Also known for its brand name Diflucan, Fluconazole is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, brain, mouth, throat, digestive tract, heart, lungs, urinary tract, vagina and other body organs.
This medicine may be used to treat other conditions as decided by your doctor.
Take Fluconazole exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not take more or less than instructed by your doctor.
You may take this medicine with or without food.
Fluconazole is generally well tolerated. It may occasionally cause dizziness. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.
Other side effects include any of the following: headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, stomach wind, dry mouth, muscle pain and tiredness.
Do not take Fluconazole if you ever had an allergic reaction (rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to similar antifungal medicines such as ketoconazole and itraconazole.
